Next Year's Oscar Host(s)

I love this time of the year when everything is still abuzz from the Academy Awards. It's awesome and makes for great blogging material. Last year, around this time everyone was saying that Billy Crystal was great but that next year they wanted something fresh. And fresh they got. I thought Seth MacFarlane was hilarious, yes I even thought "We Saw Your Boobs" was entertaining, but a lot of people thought he made the show "unfamily' friendly. All that being said, the other people who I heard were up for the job would have sported the same kind of material. All the raucous makes me think, who will be hosting the three ring circus next year?!

I have some ideas as to who it should be. I personally favor a tag-team approach. It worked so well for the Golden Globes this year with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. I know that they are best friends and that is part of the reason why the jokes were so funny and everything gelled so smoothly. However, two other comedians/actors could have accomplished the same thing with some practice. Hence, my options for the hosts are dynamic duos that I think would not only compliment each other but light up the stage.

1. Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone
These girls are great friends and both epically hilarious. They would not only balance one another, but make each other better. I can just see their opening monologue now picking on Meryl and Bradley Cooper.

2. Giuliana Rancic and Hugh Jackman
I realize that Giuliana being selected for the host of the Oscars in addition to her hosting the E! Red Carpet would be a monster of a job. I also realize that Giuliana Rancic is very well-known but definitely not as famous as say Billy Crystal. But, what I will say is have you seen the chemistry between Giuliana and Hugh?! They are both married and deeply devoted to their spouse, but there is something about the two of them that is hot. I think they know so much about Hollywood and both have such kind and generous personalities. Giuliana would bring the jokes and the knowledge and Hugh would bring the hotness up to 10. The audience would feel loved and satisfied by the cuteness all night long.

3. Meryl Streep and Sally Field
I don't know if these two are extremely close, but they are friends and together they must surely know everyone in Hollywood.  They both have the glamour, been-there-forever factor behind them and guess what?! They are both fantastic actresses. I think it would mean so much for these two to host and to have a theme like "How Hollywood Came to Be." It would highlight how people have been in the business for dozens of years, putting in the blood, sweat and tears to make film and Hollywood what it is today. Ben Affleck had a great point the other night on the press junket stage after winning Best Picture for Argo. I can't quote him because I cannot remember exactly what he said but basically his message was that award shows, and especially the Oscars, make films better. Not only is that completely true it's also completely brilliant. This pairing, or one like it, would allow for more change and growth in film.

Of course, it will probably be one person who hosts and I will most likely favor the choice. But just in case The Academy is reading, those are my suggestions.
