Watch of the Week

This week's Watch of the Week was inspired by the reruns that I have been watching for the past two months. My mom, sister and I have been watching a ton of Gilmore Girls. We are going straight through the seven seasons, currently we are nestled in season five. Naturally as you go through the seasons, which I am sure that many of you have done, you think about all the other things you have seen the actors in. I got to thinking about a little known movie called I'm Reed Fish. Alexis Bledel, who plays Rory in Gilmore Girls, portrays a small role in this film. Even though its a small role its crucial to the film and because she is Alexis, the camera is in love with her face.

The film has an independent and small town feel. It follows Reed Fish, a local boy who is beloved in the small town where he resides. He is about to marry the girl (Alexis Bledel) who is the equivalent of him, beloved by all in the tiny town where they both live when his high school crush shows up out of the blue. A whole lot unravels with a cast of kooky small town characters much like the ones in Gilmore Girls.

Reasons why this movie is great:
The storyline is adorable.
The cast is awesome and yet understated. You have Jay Baruchel along with of course Alexis and Blake Clark.
The soundtrack is great and the whole movie has that awesome indie feel with the silver screen touch.
I know I keep mentioning Alexis, but I saved the best for last. You know how Gilmore Girls is all about Rory? Well this film is not like that in a way that actually lets you see more of her acting depth. She has to prove herself in her character and she does so beautifully.
The best, best thing about this movie though is that no one else has seen it, so it's a great recommendation that makes you seem like you have seen every movie there is :). Enjoy.
