Last night was the annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. It was a great show, as it always is. What I like about the SAGs, and this sounds bad, but I don't mean it to...is that they are predictable. Not for everyone, but for someone who watches films and keeps their thumb on the pulse of entertainment, the SAG awards are easy to predict. I actually like this a lot because I feel like sometimes even when you have your thumb on the pulse and read every piece of news you can get your hands on, you still cannot figure out the inner-workings of who wins the Oscars. Now, I love Oscars as well it is just a much harder award show to call.
BEST DRESSED
Most everyone looked great but my favorite looks of the night were Glenn Close, Viola Davis, and Kristen Wiig.
BEST MOMENTS
Highlights of the night including Betty White's exceptional acceptance speech, and both times Viola Davis spoke on stage. Viola Davis won the coveted Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role. As much as I was upset for Meryl, I did state in earlier posts that I thought Viola would win. The Help was an extraordinary film and I am so incredibly happy for her! Cheers to you Viola! I loved, loved, loved Modern Family's acceptance speech as well. The kids from that cast keep it afloat. I know that is weird to say but its true, they are fabulous as is the strength and range of the adult cast.
WORST MOMENT
This is both a good and a bad moment. Octavia Spencer won for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role. I love that she won and I wholeheartedly believe that she deserves it, but it gives me even less hope that Melissa McCarthy will win at the Oscars.
With the Oscars looming overhead, who will take the big awards? Could I be any more excited?! The answer is NO! I love award show season and I hope that you do too!
