Imagine Yourself In Their Shoes

I saw a post on People.com recently where Brad Pitt was quoted as saying: "They (his and Angelina's children) can't Google their mom and dad. I don't want to make myself dependent on what other people think."

This got me thinking about how I would feel as a celebrity. As I sit here and write this blog it is an interesting thought to ponder. Would I let my own future children google me if I was famous? I think it would depend on my career, the things that I had taken on and lastly the maturity of my children. I think for most stars, they dont want their personal fame coming into the personal and every day lives. What do you think? If you were famous, and had been for many years such as Brad and Angelina or say Aniston, Streep or DeNiro...would you pay attention to the hype about yourself?

Some actors watch their own movies over and over again to make themselves better. Others, such as Streep, do not like to watch themselves at all. I think it depends on the actor, their methods and their personality. Regardless of whether they watch themselves, do they google themselves? Do they scan through the tabloids just like us regular joes?

I also saw an intersting voting challenge on TMZ.com the other day where it asked a variety of questions about celebrities. Such as: Are they more likely to smoke pot than regular people, or are they more likely to get divorced? Then at the end it asked if you, the person taking the survey, was interested in being a celebrity.

After everything I know about celebrities, and the thumb that I have on the pulse of entertainment...I would still want to be a celebrity. Would you? I know that we can all sit here and dream and fantasize, and yet we will never be able to grapple with the real challenges of fame and eternal glory (well most of us anyways!). But I would trade it in for a little fame and the opportunity to touch people's lives through film. I would not however, want to be a reality star (unless I could be the next Bachelorette!).

It's an interesting thought. I believe that quote from Hugo that we are all put on this Earth for a purpose. So I guess celebritites and actors are as well!
