Ready for Love

Last night I watched the premiere of Ready for Love. I truthfully wasn't expecting much, mostly because I am partial to The Bachelor franchise. My expectations were met and exceeded in the first five minutes because Giuliana Rancic was on screen and who is better than her? The show is an eclectic mix of The Bachelor, Millionaire Matchmaker, and The Voice all rolled into one. On top of those ideas you get to see Eva Longoria and Giuliana & Bill Rancic (America's cutest married couple). G & B host the show while Eva is the executive producer. All of this seems like a lot, but it seems to be a magical combination. If you like any of the shows listed above this show is downright perfect for you.

The shows focuses on 3 bachelors who are, you guessed it, ready for love. They are three different guys and so of course have interests in different types of women. There are also three matchmakers. Each of the three matchmakers picked four women for each of the contestants. The men narrow them down to three and then the show runs much like The Bachelor. The matchmakers stay on throughout the season as vital consultants for both the men and the women, which is much like Millionaire Matchmaker. The Voice comes into play when looking at the matchmakers teams that they council. They council the girls that they originally  brought to each man. Plus, Deal or No Deal is somewhere in there, at leas tint he mind of whoever designed the set. The girls stand in rows and boxes on display, much like the famous women holding suitcases following the directions of Howie Mandel. The premiere focused on just one of the three guys, but it looks like the later episodes will mostly include two men and their dates and eliminations per episode.

This show has really found the key to getting a bigger demographic to watch: provide more than one man. Just like every man has a type of woman that he fancies, the same is true for women of men. This show has so much packed behind it. My sister isn't a Bachelor Franchise fan and she even enjoyed it. There is a bigger element of realism involved in this show. It's not watching people making fools out of themselves and laughing during their exit limousine interviews. Instead, it's watching a group of women and a few men get counseled as they go through the process of finding love in front of millions of viewers.  It's watching advice come from matchmakers who have been very successful. People could literally watch this show and take the advice and carry it into their own lives. That would be something.

Overall, I obviously had a good impression of the show. One of the three matchmakers is a male and I honestly believe he is Daniel Radcliffe's brother/twin. I truly believe that last night I watched Harry Potter match people up. He has the accent like Harry and the sense of humor that Dan really has. It was epic and I am in love. During the elimination portion of the show the final two women and the male contestant go down elevators in "the garden." I think that sounds shady and reminds me too much of a biblical story, but to each his own. I know a lot of new elements had to be added here so that this show doesn't look like a copycat. And so far it seems like they have done a good job. Give it a try next week and let me know what you think. It airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
