April Showers...Movies With the Best Rain Scenes

Spring is definitely here on the east coast, and although it's not raining today, April is notoriously known for rain. I was given this idea by my mom, brilliant woman that she is, and I think it's a great one. What are the ten best scenes in the rain. Some of these popped into my head immediately while others had to be researched but it's all the same for you. You can gather up all of these movies and have a fantastic springtime raintime movie festival. Here we go.

1. The Notebook
"Yes...it wasn't over, it still isn't over."
One of the most romantic quotes of all time with two of the most beautiful people of all time all while standing in the pouring rain. This scene scores the top ranking because it's memorable, adorable and devastating at the same time.

2. Sweet Home Alabama
"What do you want to be married to me for anyhow?" "So I can kiss you anytime I want."
I know I am a diehard romantic and a sucker but seriously this scene is great. There is something so great about the chemistry between Reese Witherspoon and Josh Lucas. The rain adds to the scene and you can't help but think about her wedding dress getting soaking wet.

3. Forrest Gump
"One day is started raining, and it didn't quit for four months. We been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stingin' rain...and big ol' fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath. And then one day it just stopped."
The rain is great in this scene but what really makes it is Tom Hanks amazing talent as an actor. The seem could have been a filler, mundane and boring. Instead it's a highlight of the movie and a very quotable scene.

4. The Bridges of Madison County
When Clint Eastwood's character Robert gets out of the car and is standing in the middle of the road and a hideous storm. It's so sad and epically romantic. Meryl's character Francesca sits in the car with her hand of the door handle knowing that she will never have the chance to leave her husband again. So emotional, so amazing.

5. Spiderman
Kissing a mysterious man in a mask who is hanging upside down. I don't think it gets much more mysterious and hot than that.

6. Les Miserables
Even though this movie just came out last year, the scene in which Eponine (Samantha Barks) sings "On My Own" is heart-wrenchingly beautiful. There are no words to describe the emotions that she manages to bring across in her character. Her voice is enveloping and she takes you away from all the sadness in the film.

7. Singing in the Rain
It's a classic, and the classic film rain scene. If I didn't put it somewhere on this list people might hunt me down and hurt me.

8. Jurassic Park
Nothing beats going to the bathroom and being stalked by a T-Rex at the same time. The beauty of this scene is how real it was. Even if dinosaurs were roaming the earth and were trying to destroy mankind, humans would still have to go to the bathroom. Plus it's Wayne Knight (Newman!) which makes the whole scene tens times better than it already was. The rain makes the whole scene more intense which eat step of the dinosaur you hear the squelching of the mud underneath it's feet.

9. Breakfast at Tiffany's
An adorable scene, and who is better than Audrey Hepburn?!

10. The Lord of the Rings: Two Towers
At the Battle for Helm's deep the whole scene talks place in a torrential downpour of rain. It's literally sheets of precipitation coming down on men who are clobbering, killing and severely wounding each other. The whole scene has much more of a richness to it because of the added weather. You feel the remorse in the killing even though it's for a good cause.
