It's official. The golden torch of The Tonight Show will be passed from Jay Leno to Jimmy Fallon next spring. As much as I love Jay Leno, the golden years of his career have passed on and it's Fallon time baby! I can't get enough of Jimmy Fallon. Not only is he hilarious but he seems to be friends with literally everybody in show business. His experience as an actor, writer, comedian, and late night personality literally make him the perfect person for this job.
The even crazier news is that the show will be moving rom Los Angeles back to 30 Rock in NYC when Fallon takes over. The great thing here is the traditionalism behind the show. Johnny Carson was the host who made it a household name, but he himself was the fourth host that the show had seen. Then the torch was passed to Leno who has held down the fort for 22 years. Yes, in the past couple of years there has been controversy and talks of ratings and cancellations and all that, but overall this show has surpassed time. It actually takes time with it. It's awesome to know that this late night gem is now in the hands of the person who deserves to carry on the tradition. Jimmy can not only take over the reigns, but he will also make the show something better than we have ever seen it before. I am getting all fired up about the idea, if you can't tell, and I am very excited for next spring.
