With just over 11 days until showtime you can be sure of a couple of things:
1. I am getting so excited that I might just start running in circles. Thankfully I gave up Diet Coke because otherwise the caffeine in that drink would have pushed me over that hump already.
2. More news is hitting every day. The stars who have nominations are "campaigning" like crazy by doing lots of interviews and photo shoots. And more and more presenters are being announced daily.
3. I am going to bring you the most up-to-date information.
Here's what you need to know today.
Presenters are being announced all over the place. Here are the ones I can tell you for sure. A few years ago the Oscars started the tradition of having the previous winners of best actor, actress and best supporting actress, actress present the awards the following year. This is true of this year as well. Which means that the following will most likely happen.
Christopher Plummer will give the award to Anne Hathaway
Octavia Spencer will give the award to Christoph Waltz
Jean DuJardin will give the award to Jennifer Lawrence
AND...
Meryl Streep will give the award to Hugh Jackman (I would die!!)
Other presenters that have been announced are Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock and Halle Berry. In addition the cast of Chicago including Renee Zellweger and I am assuming Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere will be presenting to commemorate their win for Best Film a decade ago. I am hoping that they will present for best film, but nothing has officially been announced.
In addition, like I mentioned, stars are doing interviews and talk shows like gangbusters. Very exciting news broke on Katie (Katie Couric's show). Jessica Chastain was finally able to announce that her character was based on one official woman. She is real, and not a myriad of different people rolled up into one role. As this might not seem shocking to some it's very important news for a few reasons. First, it's exciting that she is able to release this information. The controversy that has surrounded this film has been huge and it's nice to be able to put rest to some of the rumors. Secondly, this is good news for Jessica because people who portray real individuals in film tend to win. Look at Meryl Streep from last year with The Iron Lady. The Best Actress race is the closest it has been in years. People are saying that because Academy members cannot decide between Chastain and Lawrence, that they are instead voting for Wallis. Only time will tell and the time left is 11 days and 4 hours...not like I am counting or anything.
