Scarlett Johansson vs. Anne Hathaway

Trouble was brewing between two of Hollywood's hottest actresses, but one of them thankfully decided to close the case before truly opening it. Here's the story: Anne Hathaway has been racking up awards for her role as Fantine in Les Miserables. Scarlett Johansson was apparently a front runner for this role but when it came time for her audition, she had laryngitis. She seemed to be feeling a little jealous about Anne collecting all these pieces of hardware, which by the way she (Hathaway) says she is going to store in a tool shed that plays music upon opening. So ScarJo made a comment along the lines of it's impossible to sing your best when you have laryngitis. Good thing Hathaway didn't hear this news before ScarJo politely added "I think, looking at the film now, there's no possible way I could have topped that performance. It was perfect and I think fateful and meant to be."

My personal belief is that Scarlett deserves lots of points in everyone's books for coming out and admitting the news and then saying Anne was a better fit.  Though truthfully, I am not sure that she believes that in her heart of hearts. Having never heard ScarJo sing, I am not sure of her talent. However, I am a firm believer that anyone could have done better than Anne. I want to remind everyone that I do not hate Anne Hathaway. I am just not a fan of how she presents herself: she thinks she hung the moon and that everyone else should realize that and acknowledge that there is no one better. In reality millions of actresses have come before her and millions will come after her. Most with equal or more talent.

All my hatred for Anne in that role put aside, here are the other women who were also up for the part of Fantine: Amy Adams, Jessica Biel, Rebecca Hall, Marion Cotillard, and my personal favorite Kate Winslet. Just think of how much better these women would be at accepting awards. I don't know about you but I am growing weary of Hathaway's acceptance speeches. She is a deep breather and plays the fake "oh my god, I had no idea" doe-eyed face all to well. This is the first time I am ever going to go on record saying this but thank God award season is almost over. For the sheer reason that I don't want to hear her make another over the top fake speech.
