Young Hollywood

Forbes recently revealed on-screen couples who have grossed the most money with their films. The results were in no way shocking to me: Robsten (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson) came in at number one. The official title is highest grossing romantic celebrity couple. The only other real life couple to make the list came in at number eight with Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth in The Last Song.

The franchise has made more money than I think anyone ever though possible. Some of the films have been especially horrible, and yet we all still pour into the theater anyway which translates to us pouring money into Kristen and Rob's pockets. The most outrageous fact behind them being number one is all the scandal that they have been involved in over the past year. Even though the two were reportedly together at the Golden Globes after party this Sunday, it has rumored that they have split again. I completely support whatever Rob does in the end. He is the one that will come out on top and keep acting until he is a very old man. The sad thing that I realize, while others do not is that these two will be together for a very long time. Whether it's officially or unofficially, these two are not going to be able to escape each other. Rob has already proven this point this past year. He tried to clear his mind and get away, but in the end he went running right back into Kristen's bird arms.

I am not trying to criticize young Hollywood, but how often do we see this kind of thing happen? The answer is: more often than not. Three prime examples
1. I know that Selena Gomez is currently parading around her freedom and deserves much better than lowly Bieber, but the fact of the matter is I am waiting for her to run back to "boyfriend."
2. Lindsay Lohan try as she might cannot stay out of trouble. She has been to rehab, counseling, court, jail and has probably tried a myriad of other remedies for her habitual partying existence. The cold facts are that it's just not working.
3. Miley Cyrus was raised on a television set where she played a character who had a secret identity. I am pretty sure that she lives out her current life with her crazy hairstyles, partying and less than put-together outfits because she is still trying to defy the "Disney girl" life that was put before her.

So what do these stories have in common with Robsten? Bottom line is, these kids were brought up in the spotlight. Whether they started acting at age 10 or even before, they have formed who they are in the public eye and that has tainted their judgment. All of the people mentioned in this post, especially Kristen and Rob have become more famous because of these things. Rob ad Kristen skyrocketed in fame not only because the Twilight books were so loved, but also because they are a real life couple. They have been formed into the individuals that they are under these identities and they don't know how to function without that part of themselves. It's a cyclical, sick dilemma that has proven hard to break. Just like Lindsay will always be getting into shenanigans until paparazzi stop following her, Selena will probably start dating another superstar boy like Josh Hutcherson and Miley will get another outlandish tattoo. These young people have been molded in the public eye to be a certain person, have certain qualities, and to establish certain kinds of relationships. I think that the highest earnest couple is bound together, in love or endorsements I am not sure which. As the public we always act shocked when these things play out, but really we should be looking into the people they are and how they were brought up. Deep post, but really it's food for thought.
