After watching the first trailer for Spring Breakers I have two thoughts:
1. That movie looks creepy as all get out
2. When can I see it?
I don't know about you but I have been hearing the buzz surrounding this film for what seems like over three years. I am not sure how long it is in reality, but up until today I wanted nothing to do with the film. Now, after seeing the trailer I think it looks absolutely crazy, but I am totally game. The movie stars Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, James Franco and a bunch of newcomers. The film surrounds the antics that four college girls get into after robbing a restaurant in order to pay for their spring break plans. Of course the foursome gets caught and are of course bailed out by a drug dealer who has hefty plans for them to pay him back. You can predict the trailer as it happens on your screen. It's the outfits, the young teen "talent," and James Franco's fake grill that make you want to see this film, just for the sole purpose of making fun of it.
I know how awful that sounded, but let's all be honest..this movie is destined to be made fun of. There are no teen movies that manage to surpass the masses with no criticism. The only movie to ever accomplish that goal has been Mean Girls, which I could personally watch every single day. I have no doubt however, that the movie will bring in the dough. All the Jelena fans who are still heartbroken will go see the movie, all the teenagers who manage to get into an R-rated movie will see it and everyone already saw it at the Toronto International film festival. Who knows, maybe I will be floored by the movie and end up loving every seen. Regardless of how I feel after viewing it, I will be contributing to it's sales overall.
