Juan Pablo is running around the country right now on a campaign. He's trying to get fans to watch his season of The Bachelor. I don't think the initial numbers are what's worrying ABC right now. Juan Pablo is attractive, funny, not to mention he has a great accent. What ABC has to worry about is what Juan says with his beautiful accent.
New reports are slamming Juan Pablo because of an interview in which he stated some pretty nasty remarks about the possibility of having a gay bachelor. I won't get into the nitty gritty details, because really it's not about the details. It's about the fact that his inflated ego said anything at all. I would think that the public relations committee behind the show would keep a pretty tight leash on what he is allowed to say, but apparently not.
I now understand why the franchise has been calling this Juanuary. And why they have had a million a two specials this month. In the past three weeks they have had a behind the scenes special, a night to meet Juan Pablo, a night devoted to surviving bachelor and bachelorette couples and next week the biggest of all: Sean and Catherine's wedding. Now, I fully realize that ABC had no foresight to know that JP would get himself into this hole. But they did know that JP is a little bit flaky. Rumor has it that at the end of the season Juan Pablo ends up with one of the girls..but doesn't even propose. It might have been a mistake to pick such a swarthy bachelor.
No matter what really happens, I will be watching all the way till the end. I may not be Juan Pablo's biggest fan, but I am a fan of watching it all hit the fan.
