My Personal Apology to Francis Lawrence AKA My Catching Fire Post

Alright everyone, Jentertainment has been on sabbatical for way too long! I am back, and with a powerful apology. I need to make a public statement that I am sorry for not believing in Francis Lawrence's ability to direct Catching Fire. I truly put the franchise in a whole nother box in my head when the director of the original film walked away. I thought the first film was alright at best, and that there was no way to recover from switching directors in the middle of this rebellion.

However, I was wrong (this is not the first time, nor will it be the last). Catching Fire is a work of art. Not only is it true to Suzanne Collin's masterpiece, but it's also true to the fans. My complaints moving from the first installment to the second installment have vanished. The relationships are present and have a pulse between the characters, and the unnecessary foreshadowing has been obliterated as well. Not to mention the fact that an all star cast was brought back with some amazing additions.

The casting process for this must have been the biggest one to take on in about five years. To get these people to match Collins' vision as well as meet up to fan's expectations is a huge job. The final product leaves the audience with ease and classiness. The new additions to the cast are familiar faces that are really not all that familiar. They are (and this is not to be mean, it's just honest) faces that you know you have seen before, but you can't instantly place them. What this creates is a hominess with the characters and brings the fans involvement in the film up by several points.

In addition, the returning cast is as strong as ever. From Liam Hemsworth to Elizabeth Banks to Lenny Kravitz to Woody Harrelson to Stanley Tucci the acting is superb. Then you move to Josh Hutcherson and the elegance and wisdom that he brings to the screen. He is a phenomenal young actor with a seemingly endless future in acting in front of him. And as we all know, Jentertainment is a high supporter of Jennifer Lawrence. The girl actually is the girl on fire. She can do it all and with magnitude and power behind each role that so few actresses can really bring. She was nothing less than magnificent in this film. She brings the house down with her looks of defiance and rebellion and her heart of gold.

The film is a cut above the rest. It surely is an improvement from the first film and it makes me even more excited to see what's coming up next. Just be warned, that the monkeys in this film are far more scary than any muttations. Tick Tock...it's a clock..when are you going to see the film?
