Top 100 Best Films Day 4

This list just keeps counting down. It's really hard to make a top 100 films list. I thought it was going to be hard but it proved to be even harder than I thought. As we get down to the final nitty gritty, remember that these are just my opinions. Everyone has their own top 100 or at least top 10 movies picked out. This list would also be completely different if I was just naming off my favorite films. Favorite films and best films are two different things in my book and I thought it would be better to show the best films. These films have the most to offer when you look at them as a whole: the casting, the emotions they evoke, the storyline, the cinematography and more all wrapped in a big bow.

Spotlight on The Devil Wears Prada
I seriously cannot get enough of this film. I know that most of you have picked up on the fact that I am not a huge Anne Hathaway film, so this next sentence is weird for me to type. I think she was the perfect choice for the role. I honestly and really do think that. As much as I have loathed her in the whole Fantine debacle, I really enjoy her in this film. She is spirited, spunky and literally typecast for it. The rest of this cast is brilliant too, especially Meryl Streep (you knew it was coming)! This is one of the first films that I saw that starred Meryl Streep. I saw it for the first time when it hits theaters, so this was pre-Meryl-Streep-obsession. I loved her in the film and even then wanted to know more about this brilliant actress. After going on my Meryl Streep film journey, this movie still stands out as one of the greats. She is classic in this film, but also raw and different in a way that we had never seen her before. Her cold and calculating stare is all it takes for you as the audience to know that she means business.

The movie as a whole is graceful, poignant and extremely well done. It's based on a book that was based on real life people. That's a hard thing to take on and do correctly and yet the film graces any screen with ease and brilliance. You can literally watch it again and again.
