Back to School Movies

It's that time whether you like it or not. Some of us loved school and others of us dreaded every single day through twelve years. Either way, you have to go and then still after your gone, who doesn't love to watch a good school movie?

1. Billy Madison: "Back to school, back to school, to prove to dad that I'm no fool!" Best first day of school song ever. This movie has some of the best one-liners of any Adam Sandler movie ever.

2. Accepted: This movie is great not only because its about a seriously fun freshmen year of college, but also because of the cast. All of the cast members were little pipsqueaks in Hollywood at the time and now they are some of the biggest names around town. You've got Justin Long, Blake Lively, and Jonah Hill. Check this one out. It reminds me of The Skulls from the other side, the kids who don't get picked and want to make a fun club.

3. High School Musical: HA! There's singing and dancing and young Zac Efron prancing around the stage. What more could you ask for in a Disney channel original movie that took off reaching for the stars, and actually made it there? I was actually a stage director for this show my senior year of high school. It truly was a high school musical. It's the only good movie in the installment. Kids happen to think its pretty great too.

4. Mean Girls: This movie shaped my life. That sounds like an idiotic statement, and I am sure that it could be seen as one. I first saw this movie as a freshmen in high school and I thought how poignant it would serve for my generation. This statement, although ridiculous, is actually true. "She doesn't even go here!" A brilliant from the most quotable ever! Seriously can be used in almost any situation to make anyone feel like less of an individual. Try it out and let me know how it works.

5. Grease: The original High School Musical was definitely not made by the Disney channel. It's the same sing-songy kind of movie but Grease is much more mature. Admit it we have all lived vicariously through the romance of Danny and Sandy. It's extremely cheesy, but extremely adorable at the same time.

6. Dead Poet's Society: I'm changing it up and getting all serious on you here. This movie is brilliant. If you haven't seen it, it's definitely a life-changing one. Robin Williams offers one of his best performances and the young actors that also grace the screen are amazing.

7. Ferris Bueller's Day Off: "Bueller. Bueller. Bueller," who doesn't love the voice of Ben Stein over and over in the beginning scenes. This movie is a cult classic and everyone should see it, numerous times.

8. 21 Jump Street: Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill seriously go back to school in this movie. The two of them are young police officers who get reassigned to go undercover in a high school when they are around the age of 25. It's quick-witted and hysterical. Watch out for the cameo made by Johnny Depp and enjoy going back to school.

9. 17 Again: This one is another like 21 Jump Street but with a twist, Matthew Perry gets transported back to his childhood body and goes back to school with his kids. It's a weird premise with hilarious results plus it stars some pretty great people like Zac Efron, Leslie Mann and Michelle Trachtenberg.

10. The Breakfast Club: Another classic. As a kid who didn't spend any time in detention, except for one Saturday school (I don't want to get into it), The Breakfast Club is a fun movie to watch. It combines all kinds of kids and sets them up for some fun experiences.
