Here are my passes from tonight's pre-screening of The Hunger Games. I know, hold your applause. The movie was absolutely fantastic! Walking out of the theater, all I could think about was how excited I was to see it again tomorrow night for the official midnight showing.
Overall, I would give the film a solid B. If you read my earlier post from today, you know that I feel very strongly about book to movie translations. This one was done very well. There were a few things that were missing, but I will focus on those in my post tomorrow.
What I want to talk about tonight is sitting in the very front row of the theater. The camera angles that this movie was shot in were intense. And you are thinking, of course they are, it's The Hunger Games. And I am 100% with you. The camera angles should be bold and capture everything that is happening at a very fast rate. What is not good about this, would be sitting in the front row. I was straining to see what the whole angle was because I could only focus on Peeta's eyebrow or Katniss's eyeball. What I can say based on this experience is that the film did great airbrushing and that during the games, they really did get the tributes dirty! The people from The Capitol had fabulous makeup and Effie's face was very expressive.
The movie was excellent and I feel so privileged to have gone to a pre-showing. Tomorrow I will focus more on the excellences and flaws of the film. I don't want to give too much away tonight. For those of you who are going tomorrow night, or plan to go this weekend: May the odds be ever in your favour! Happy Hunger Games.
