Last night was the annual award show: The People's Choice Awards. The beauty and the downfall to this award show is that people from all over the United States can vote for their favorite stars, actors, singers and movies. The beauty in that is that the stars can see how much their fans love and adore them and can get recognition from the people who will cherish their work for generations to come. The downfall to this is that sixteen year old girls can vote for the same person, film or song an unlimited amount of times.
Therefore, the results are pretty predictable and can sometimes be skewed from what the typical and average American would say. I saw that a few times last night. The main award that shocked me to the core was the Most Famous Movie Star Under 25. Chloe Moretz from Hugo swept up the award. I am sure that her acting was exceptional. However, it's shocking to me because she was nominated with four other people: Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Felton, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. All of these infamous Harry Potter stars are amazingly talented and with the year that this cast has had it is very surprising that Moretz took the award.
Things I was pleasantly surprised at: Hot in Cleveland claiming the Favorite Cable TV Comedy; Johnny Depp winning Favorite Movie Actor; and Water for Elephants taking Favorite Movie Drama. I feel like each of those awards were well deserved.
What I could not help but feel when the award show ended last night was even more excited for the Golden Globes on Sunday! Get excited people, we are just three days away! Will Gervais get kicked off the stage? Will there be any drunken acceptances this year? Tune in and find out!!
