Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy bring the heat, the humor and the wit in their new film The Heat, which hits theaters on June 28th. You can expect to laugh your way through the entire film, and you can also expect to feel a sense of camaraderie with the audience. This is one of those films that evokes everyone's funny bone and links you to the people sitting next to you. The film centers around uptight and anal retentive Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) who is trying to score a promotion in the FBI. Her boss sends her to Boston to take down a drug lord. Enter McCarthy as the boisterous and outspoken Shannon Mullins to create a dynamic duo force that is not to be rivaled with. The supporting members of the cast perform just as amazingly and brilliantly as Sandra and Melissa do.
The film is unique in it's own way, but you are reminded both of Miss Congeniality and Bridesmaids while watching it. I was also personally reminded of The Hangover as well. If you thought that Bridesmaids was the female version, you are sorely mistaken, this film tops that humor and brings more heat. I give the movie four and a half stars. I expected the film to be great, but I didn't expect to be as caught up in the storyline as I was. It's a solid story to back up all of the hilarity and one-liners that are thrown in, not to mention the party scenes. I can't even pick a favorite line because there were truly so many. But I can tell you that my sister and I have been quoting this movie nonstop since seeing it two days ago.
The beauty of this film is really the chemistry between McCarthy and Bullock. After watching countless interviews and now the film, there is no denying that the two have become best friends through shooting this movie. Their onscreen reaction time both to themselves and to one another makes the whole movie funnier and more realistic. I love it when the parts of the cast act as one unit, and that is definitely what takes place in this film. It's not a summer blockbuster to miss. After the release got delayed twice, I was more than happy to see it early! All the delays were worth it though because the film does deliver! Check it out on June 28th.
