Stay Classy

I am always struck when reading different articles and learning information about various celebrities, how some can be so tactful and poised, classy if you will. While others, are not classy at all, and even sometimes crass. I'm not really surprised either way, because people are people, celebrity or not, but it's always interesting to find out who are among the classy and who fall below the line.

Today, I scrolled across two pieces of information. One was shocking to me while the other was affirming what I already knew about a certain celeb's classiness. What exactly am I talking about you ask? Let me paint you a little picture. I always thought of Reese Witherspoon as a completely classy, well-to-do woman who was tough, but polite. Apparently, she and her husband, Jim Toth, had a little bit too much alcohol late Thursday night into Friday morning. And apparently, Reese doesn't play so nice after throwing a few back. Toth was driving when he was pulled over. He was given a DUI and Reese refused to cooperate. She didn't want o get out of the car, and kept insisting that the cop wasn't real. She was too arrested and her and her hubby spent the morning in jail. I don't know why, but the whole thing just really shocks me. I get the effects of alcohol and everything that goes along with that, but I still don't get her yelling at a po-po. I have to admit, I am a little bit disappointed. She has held the image of being America's sweetheart for years, we are going on decades. She has these adorable kids who seem to be well-mannered, like their mom, who as it turns out isn't well-mannered at all. Craziness y'all, craziness.

But, then my spirits were lifted when reading about Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. These two ladies are always classy. Seriously, look at Bullock's divorce and cheating scandal and how high she has always head her high. She doesn't let anyone see her sweat and everyone in the world loves her. She is truly America's real sweetheart, and Melissa is the funniest woman who we can't get enough of. These two have had heavy hearts this week with the bombings in Boston, especially since they filmed their latest movie, The Heat, there last summer. They have arranged for Boston PD to get an advance free screening of their new movie. Not only is that cool but it's moving. They saw a need for comfort and they are giving it. As celebrities they didn't have to go out of their way but they wanted to. It's just like Bradley Cooper visiting victims of the bombings this past week in the hospital. It's the little things that stand out people. Stay classy, that's my message. Be a Sandra or a Melissa, not a Reese.
