I was watching Gilmore Girls last night when I heard my mom calling to me to come watch Sean on TV. She meant Sean Lowe, the newest Bachelor from ABC on Dancing With the Stars. In full disclosure and honestly here, I am going to admit that before last night I had never watched an episode of the show before. I know I am up with pop culture and this show has been on top, but there has never been enough appeal for me. All of the women that I used to work with in Kearney, Missouri (shout out!!) watched this show religiously, along with The Voice. I love reality television (if that wasn't obvious from all of my posts), but for some reason I cannot get into the singing and dancing competitions. I have never even been an American Idol fan. There is something about the incessant waiting for the final reveal of who will get the boot that drives me crazy. Then having to watch their reaction and their emotional blow play out drives me crazy. I could DVR the shows and watch them fast-forwarded but I seriously just can't find the care in me to do that. The main reason is that I have no talent in singing or dancing, so there is no point for me in watching other people (some with and most without talent) strut their stuff/sing their heart out on a stage for two and a half hours.
All that being said, when I started to watch Sean and his partner dance last night, I got sucked in. The dimpy, dorky host that took over for Bob Saget on America's Funniest Home Videos is too much for me (his name is Tom Bergeron for all of you who care). Even though I can't stand him, he somehow got me to sit on the couch during the commercial break and wait for the next dance. And then I had to watch the next couple dance to have something to compare it to. I even started watching the dance-off until Andy Dick took the floor with his partner. I gave it up then, because I can't condone watching Andy Dick dance as if he has rhythm. All I am trying to convey here, is that I finally understand why you all watch it. Once you watch one whole episode you have to tune in to see how bad it is and to ignore the dimpy, dorky host while secretly starting to like his commentary. It could happen for me and Dancing With the Stars (especially after reading Claire Cook's book). But I am going to resign, I was a fan for one night and that is enough for me. Sorry if you were looking for the newest gossip or leak of who has the highest chance of being booted next week. You will not find that information here on Jentertainment, only honesty.
