SAGs Recap

The Screen Actor's Guild Awards aired last night on TNT and TBS and they were definitely a good time. Jentertainment's total score of accuracy was 8 out of 13 or 62%. Not too shabby.

Pre-show
Every year E! covers the Red Carpet of the SAGs and this year was no exception. Giuliana Rancic looked radiant in a stunning blue gown with a ruffled sleeve. She has such a presence and it is so obvious while she is on the red carpet how much she loves her job. As an entertainment junkie I wish I had her job too. Last night she was amazing as always, and has anyone else noticed the chemistry between her and Hugh Jackman?1 It's on fire from the Golden Globes to last night. I LOVE it. She had two great quotes while interviewing him. At one point she yelled: "Forget my wedding and my baby!" and when Jackman left she said: "I hope he wins everything!" It was a nice sentiment between friends and they definitely have an attraction to one another. It's ok though they are both forever in love with their spouses.

"I have known you since you were pregnant with Lena Dunham" -Tina Fey to Amy Poehler during her acceptance speech

"Except for Aubrey, she has no idea who you guys are!" -Jesse Tyler Ferguson acknowledging the casts of The Office and 30 Rock when Modern Family won for Best Ensemble

Show
The show was great. The SAGs are different because there is no true host. A voice from beyond moves the show along and introduces the next presenter. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Dick Van Dyke. He was absolutely adorable on stage, but it was sad when he called Alec Baldwin Tony Bennet.

Hathaway won...again. I'm not surprised, but I am sad that I live in a world where she was recognized and applauded while Hugh Jackman was left on the sidelines. When you compare the two performances it is such a shame that she is getting all of the spotlight. It was great however, when the two of them graced the stage to introduce the film and they named all of the characters the whole cast had played in other films.

Sally Field and Daniel Day Lewis were so cute on stage. Watching them pull the clever joke of swapping reading glasses was nothing short of adorable. I know that I have been cracking on DDL this season, but it's only because Hugh Jackman is my new obsession. I really don't hate DDL, and watching him up there in normal clothing with Field by his side I felt myself wanting to see the two of them star in a modern day lighthearted romance. It could be great!

The SAGS are not as big of a predictor for the Academy Awards as the Globes are, but they still have some influence. To me the most interesting races this far are the ones that are usually shoe-ins. Most years there is a clear frontrunner for Best Actress and Best Actor. But with Hugh Jackman against DDL and Lawrence against Chastain, my head is spinning. I am hoping that Weinstein doesn't pull what he did last year and buy the awards, if J-Law is supposed to win then it can happen the way it should, with majority vote. Either of the women I am perfectly fine with, but Hugh Jackman needs to walk away with the big Kahuna of the award's season. We still have another month to go, but we all know that I will keep you updated.
