Not Falling For Taylor's Act Anymore

I don't know how all of you feel but I am done falling for Taylor Swift's act. This is truly unfortunate because I have been a devoted "Swifty" as she calls her fans. I own all of her CD's, I have listened to them while driving religiously, the corny ballads have gotten me through some breakups and I have even seen her in concert. These feelings that I have toward her now are not coming from a vindictive place. But, they are here nonetheless and I think they are here to stay.

Since bursting into the country music scene and then gradually fading into the pop one as well Taylor has been a well-rounded cute celebrity. We have all ushered her with praise for her various accomplishments, cried for her when John Mayer broke her heart and winced every time she had yet another breakup. That laundry list of breakups brings me to my main point. This girl is becoming a serial dater. Who has she not dated in the world of young and hot celebrities? I can't really think of anyone. She has even had her share of some of the older men in Hollywood, and now I hear that she wanted to date Bradley Cooper! She went to Jennifer Lawrence and asked that the two of them be set up! Not only is this outrageous to think that BCoop would consider dating her, but there is a 16 year age difference between the two. Not to mention the fact that it wouldn't last and don't even get me started on how the world does not need 'Dear John' part II.

It's hard not to realize the blatant truth here: she isn't even dating for love. I would say she is dating to pay the bills, but she is dating to buy extravagant houses and push herself even higher up on the iTunes chart. I don't care what people's motives are for writing music. Who am I to judge? However, I think it's sad that someone who is obviously sweet and caring has morphed into this person who is only dating for money and higher fame, when she is already one of the most famous individuals on the planet. I am sure that she doesn't see life through this lens, and I am sure that her family and friends don't either. What was once a cute joke about her serial dating tendencies has turned into full on truths that we as the public can't deny anymore. Her last album was so clearly written about the men in her past. I could pinpoint song for song who it's most likely about. As a fan, it is deterring me from listening to her latest album Red and it will deter me from buying her next album all together.

Now, for all you Swifty's out there, I am completely sure that Taylor isn't going anywhere. She has captured America's heart and she is here to stay for what I am sure is quite some time. I just hope that she matures and grows up sooner rather than later. Another rendition of "he broke my heart, and now I have to start over AGAIN" can not be handled another 16 times over on another album. If she wants to stick around for the long, long haul she should work on what she truly wants out of life. And stop bothering her friends to set her up with people who are completely out of her league.
