In the past couple of years, ensemble cast films with huge names have been more than on the rise. They have been huge hits at the box office, but no one that I have talked to really seems to walk out of the theater satisfied. We have seen Valentine's Day, He's Just Not That Into You, New Year's Eve, currently many of you are watching What To Expect When You're Expecting. In the future, Mother's Day will be the next big one. What do you think?! If you ask me, I am a little sick of it! We need new original stories with not so much overlap. Some of the story lines get to be very boring and it seems to be all about the A-list names.

I think the whole holiday movie with a huge cast thing is getting cheesy. They don't have enough time to develop the characters or their relationships so I don't find myself caring too much. Plus there are always characters who have a plot line that is weak and feels random. I think Hollywood needs to go back to spending more time on characterization and trying to connect with the audience on a human level. Instead of trying to make money with a gimmick movie with a big cast of wasted talent.
ReplyDeleteI assume you will not being seeing Expendables 2 then...
ReplyDeleteI agree Michele. I stick with original ideas that it is a waste of money with a mediocre end result.
DeleteBen, I would see The Expendables 2 because its action, which is always better than romantic comedy ensembles.
I agree "The Expendables" is totally different. It's not trying to be anything more then a fun action movie with a great cast of men that are legends in the genre. It doesn't take itself too seriously. Those romantic comedy ensembles are trying to make you care. They want to be the next "When Harry Met Sally." But they aren't even coming close.
