Many of you have been going to the movies like crazy over the past couple weeks. I do not blame you, there have been so many great films coming out, and the good news, it just keeps getting better. Around the corner is the summer, and we all know what that means, summer blockbuster movies! Gotta love those!
Something else is coming to theaters soon too, a new Nicholas Sparks book made into a movie. I know that many of you have of course seen The Notebook, his most famous book to movie. But there have also been Nights in Rodanthe (biggest tear jerker of all time, especially the book version) and The Last Song featuring America's current favorite hottie....none other than Liam Hemsworth!
All of the films have been good in my opinion except for one, that was Dear John. Don't take this the wrong way, because the film is pretty decent. However, it is truly a different story than is presented in the novel. But I guess it's alright, because of course we all love to stare at Channing Tatum as well, right?!
Well, now you all will get to stare and go gaga over someone that has truly blossomed into an adult actor. That's right, I'm talking about basketball star, singing sensation....Zac Efron! Honestly though, he has grown so much as an actor from those films and I know he is going to fill this role with such ease while managing to bring a real personality to the person who was on the pages of the book.
So, I just finished reading the book earlier this week. I have been wanting to post on it ever since I read the first chapter. I know it may be dorky to read Nicholas Sparks novels, but I am not one to care what others think. I think he is a fabulous writer who focuses on real situations and the classic human insticts that we all have to find true love in the end. His books are nice to read, because they flow very easily and you can usually finish them in a day or two. The stories however, will stick around in your mind for far more than that amount of time. All of his novels include someone tragically dying. If you know what I am talking about, then I am pleased to tell you that in The Lucky One, the death is not so tragic after all.
After reading the book, I am more excited to see the film. The trailer has looked amazing for months, and I will admit that every time I watch it, I end up crying. I am for sure a softie! Nevertheless, I think the subject matter behind the film could take down even the strongest of people. I do not want to give away too much of the book, because it will spoil the film for all of you. If you want to know, seriously go pick up a copy of the book, because paperbacks are really only $7.99 right now. I think we can all handle that! But, don't be disappointed if the film doesn't turn out like the movie. There are always subtle things that have to be changed because of role conflicts, scheduling conflicts or some other kind of conflict that we as normal people don't understand. Watching the trailer now, I am hoping of course that certain elements of the book remain intact in the film because they really create the personalities of the characters.
However the movie is made, and it looks pretty much comparable to the book so far, you should all go see it. Take your best friend and settle in. The movie comes out on April 20th. I hope you go find out just why Zac Efron is so lucky, or maybe he isn't really the lucky one after all?!
