I don't know about you but I am bored already and I feel like I have already seen the film. That's one of the problems with the film industry right now: no one is truly coming up with original ideas. Yes, some sequels are amazing and can be truly better than the first. But others leave the film industry looking like a bit of a joke and people wishing they didn't spend their money. Now, I know right now you are thinking that I am being really harsh...but someone needs to say it. The film industry needs new and different ideas. Reinventing another franchise about only one teenager being able to save the world (Yes the idea was great at first but now it is overused and dried up) and creating sequels for good movies left and right is leaving us bored.
Meanwhile, HBO and Showtime are offering fresh and riveting storylines that a person cannot only watch once a week, but can binge watch to their heart's content. Hollywood needs to recapture the essence and magic of filmmaking before it becomes obsolete.
So we will see about Paul Blart in April but I don't have high hopes. Maybe I am the only one questioning its hilarity after the release of the trailer, but a hunch tells me that I'm not.
