Captain Phillips

This movie will move you. It will scare you, shock you, and make you cry. I'm calling the best movie of the year so far. I'm saying that there is no way that Tom Hanks won't win the Oscar this year. What will you say about it?

You will say this is one of the best movies that you have ever seen and that you want to see it again and again. I know you will. This movie is incredible from the camera angles to the supporting cast all the way to the top billed cast. Tom Hanks is in his element, he is always in his element in my opinion. The man was born to be an actor. He shines once again in this role and truly makes the feelings behind this true story come to live. I haven't been so moved by a movie since viewing Silkwood. His approach to this role was dead on and flawless. You have to view his portrayal before you can really understand how amazing he is. This will just add on to his list of legendary performances and it is definitely not one that will be pushed under the rug.

You will say that you felt for the Somali pirates. Their acting is amazing and fresh and they add to an already brilliant cast. You may not believe me now but I think you will feel for them when viewing this film. The world is a crazy place and people have to go to great lengths to protect themselves and their families. I know that I was empathizing with the pirates. If your remember the attacks on the Maersk Alabama in 2009 then you already know both the story and the outcome. If you don't, don't let that stop you from seeing the film. It's powerful, raw and so incredibly real. In today's world anything and everything seems to happen, even the things that we fear the most. 

You will love this movie most of all because there is no fluff. The actors don't dance around giving you mundane details before getting into the meat of the story that the entire audience is waiting to see. Is read, the film gets started right away and the action doesn't stop until the credits roll. Make sure you see this one, you don't want to miss it.
