Catching Fire Trailer

I know this is a few days past the release of the trailer, but I am the only person in the world who is upset by the teaser trailer?

After viewing the trailer yesterday and slamming my laptop closed, I reopened it and begin a google search. I wanted to get a feel for what other people's reactions were. The crazy thing was that every last one of the was positive. Maybe I am being dramatic,  but it didn't have the feel that I was hoping for it to have. As we all know, Catching Fire has a different director than Hunger Games. To be honest, that is probably where my problems with the trailer stem from. Changing directors in a series is never a good idea. Look to the parallels with Harry Potter people! When Christopher Columbus wanted out, Alfonso Cuaron stepped in on Prisoner of Azkaban and did what he wanted with it. He didn't stick to the book and left the millions of just movie fans out there not understanding many crucial points that were of course brought up later. My fear for these upcoming films is that the same thing will happen. Granted, I think Hunger Games has more fans that have both read the books and will see the movies than Potter, but the main point still stands alone.

I can't pinpoint too many specifics of what wasn't right, except for an entire conversation between Plutarch and President Snow that I am pretty sure never happened. I hated the fact that in Hunger Games that was such a pivotal point of focus, President Snow and his many conversations. The books are all told focusing on Katniss, and therefore that is the personality of the story. I understand that many things must be changed when heading from a book into a movie, but conversations and events should not be formed out of thin air.

The positive notes that I have about the trailer are as follows:
I still love Stanley Tucci. He looks better than ever in the trailer.

On the same token, Jennifer Lawrence still kicks ass. She is amazing and no one else could do this role justice.

It looks like we can tell where the cut off for the movie is. There will be four movies total and of course there are only three novels. I am pretty sure that we will see very little of the arena for the Quarter Quell games in this film. The stage will just be set. And I am fine with that as long as its done right.

The costumes are also spectacular as always. If there is one thing that seems to be right and was definitely done right in the first film, it's the costuming and presentation of the capital and districts. I imagined things just as they were while reading and that's comforting because it means that the journeys I took with these characters in my head, also get to play out on screen.

Maybe I am wrong about my whole rant above and everything will be fine. I am hoping that's the case. If not, I will still love the movie. And of course I will bring you my review and multiple posts before the movie even hits theaters. I am seriously considering reading Catching Fire again and I think you should too. Im eagerly awaiting November 22.
