Really, How Long Was The Ice Age?

Ok, let me preface this post by saying that I have actually seen all three of the current Ice Age films, but let me also say, that none of them truly impressed me. Now that that's out of the way, there is yet another Ice Age movie being created called: Ice Age Continental Drift. My question is, how long was the Ice Age?

Now, I know that is a very stupid question and that the Ice Age was a long amount of time in our world's history. However, that does not merit four movies based on the same idea with only a tweak or two in the plot line. I have just had the non-privilege of watching the new trailer once again and I cannot help but think that this film is not going to make any money. And yet, at the same time, I know that it will. When I think of this franchise it makes me think of The Land Before Time franchise as well. They made so many movies and little cartoons, that I don't think any single person could keep track of the actual number. But I do not think that the money that it will pile in will be worth the time, effort and additional money that it cost to make it.

There are some big stars attached to the film and of course I wouldn't wish ill upon their movie, but I am seriously hoping this is the last film of this franchise. I think the Ice Age has come to an end and we need to think of other ideas to amuse the children of this generation.
