Ruined Appetite

Alright, I am officially ticked. I heard this on the radio this morning and I just checked my sources to make sure the depressing and stupid news is really real. Unfortunately, it is. Gary Ross, the director of The Hunger Games has officially backed out of directing any of the sequels. This is not only disappointing, its also downright stupid. In his statement, he claims the reasoning behind the decision is a lack of appropriate time in order to write the screenplay and create the exact desired effect that he has envisioned. What it actually appears to be about below the surface, is what everything is about. That's right friends, money. The stupid thing about this is that Ross is currently making royalties of the film and will continue to do so. Which means, if he stuck with this incredibly great opportunity, he could be rolling in some serious Benjamins.

As dumb as this all is in my opinion, it also will probably have a negative effect on the movie franchise. I know, and so do you guys, the things that were left out of the first film. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise and the next films in turn will be better and focus on more relationships. I am keeping my fingers crossed for this. However, the track record when changing directors during a movie franchise isn't good, in fact it's bleak. Take Harry Potter for an example. Everyone knows that the first two films were directed by Christopher Columbus, when he stopped Alfonzo took over and the third film, Prisoner of Azkaban, is not up to par at all. In fact, its a crock and not worth anything compared to the book.

To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I am hoping that this is a good thing and that there is something bigger and better to come for the next films. Also, speaking of the next films they are now talking about who will be cast as Finnick. I don't really like any of the top runners right now, especially this talk about Chris Hemsworth. I like him and he is very talented, however, let's let Liam have his own thing. The brothers being in the same film is weird and Liam has this project all to himself, he deserves the fame from this one. Hopefully the person who is cast will be good enough to play the part. I really did love the entire cast in the first film. Cheers to them, but not you Gary.
